Meet our TEAM
David Skirving
Senior Pastor
David grew up around the corner from the church but married a Sydney girl and moved over east. He worked as a medical doctor for a number of years before realising he just wanted to tell people about Jesus all day – so he became a pastor with a fire in his belly for evangelism. David did a two year internship at St Matthias church before studying for four years at Moore Theological College. He returned to Perth and worked as a pastor at Dalkeith church for seven years before joining the team at Subi Church. He is married to the beautiful Mya and they have three children: Saasha, Sophie and Justin.
Ray Forlin
Executive Pastor
Ray grew up in Perth and worked as a Software developer for 15 years before responding to the call to train to become a Pastor and completing his Masters of Divinity at Vose Bible college in Perth. His ministry experience includes many years of leadership at Bible Study Fellowship, followed by an internship at Subi Church, before becoming our Youth Pastor and Associate Pastor. In 2017 Ray became the Senior Pastor of East Fremantle Baptist and served there for almost 7 years before returning as our Executive Pastor in 2024. Amanda grew up in a Christian home, and has seen God’s hand in her life from an early age. She is married to Joachim and they have two children. She has served in not-for-profit organisations for the last 20 years in both paid and unpaid capacities. As the Executive Director, she sees her role as “equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). If you have a gift and would like to use it to further the kingdom, please don’t hesitate to contact her.
Braden Fildes

Braden grew up in Albany before moving up to Perth to study. He holds a master’s degree from Ridley Theological College and has a passion to help people read and understand the Bible for themselves. Braden is married to Rachel and is father to Zoe, and he enjoys any kind of adventure that’s with them. Braden oversees the young adult ministry.
Steven Daly
Associate Pastor
Born in Perth, Steven grew up all over the place, including two stints in England. He became a Christian whilst completing a PhD in Biochemistry, which followed studies in Zoology. Steven was ordained in the Anglican Church of Australia some 13 years later after studies at Regent College (Vancouver) and Ridley College (Melbourne). He’s worked as a research scientist, actor, in chaplaincy (school, hospital, and university college), and for over 15 years in Anglican parish ministry. He is married to Jo (a pharmacist). Steven is passionate about biblical preaching and teaching, faithful scholarship, and prayer pastoral care. His interests include birds and cars.
Carson Johnston

Carson is the Youth Pastor and oversees the youth ministry at Subi Church. Carson is passionate about youth ministry, and desires to help teenagers discover who God is and why trusting in Jesus is the greatest thing we can ever do. Carson’s hopes and prayers are that the youth of Subi Church will grow in their faith and love for God. Carson in his spare time loves playing sports, going to the gym, playing video games and watching the latest movies.
Abby Johnston
Next Gen and Comms Coordinator
Abby has lived in Perth her whole life, and met her husband Carson (the Youth Pastor) at Trinity Theological College while they were both studying there. Abby and Carson joined Subi Church at the end of 2023, and Abby has since been a part of the Kids and Youth ministries. She is passionate about fostering a church and youth group environment where young people feel loved, encouraged, safe, and excited to keep coming back. Abby loves hanging out with her very clingy dog Peanutbutter, spending time with her family, watching pretentious arthouse films, making and talking about art, and eating smash burgers. She also learned how to play video games initially as a way to connect with the youth, but it has since become an embarrassingly genuine hobby.
Airen Mulligan
Connect Ministry Director
Airen grew up in the Philippines and now lives in Perth with her husband Paul and daughter Hannah. Her background is in finance but she also has a passion for helping connect people with God and with each other, His Son and His Word. Airen’s high energy level enables her to take up this role while also working for a bank. In her spare time, you can find Airen watching Korean and Japanese variety shows like Running Man. She loves food and travelling, the next trip on her destination bucket list is Scandinavia. Any time of the day, ice cream -or the thought of ice cream- keeps her going.

Their two kids, Rhys and Lyla, are one of the reasons Katie loves serving and working in Subi Kids. She especially loves getting to know and serve the Subi Kids volunteers who are investing in the lives of her kids and so many other children. Outside of music and play dates, Katie’s primary hobby is searching for Rhys’ next favourite children’s book.

Maxwin Chong
Worship Director
Maxwin moved to Perth at age 17 to study Pharmacy at university and went on to work as a pharmacist for more than 10 years. He has been passionate about music from a young age, with a particular love for singing and piano. Much to his mum’s horror, raising Max often meant enduring music practice at all hours or driving him to youth services every week, where he was always involved in the band. Maxwin has served on church worship teams for over 20 years. While he spends a lot of time with worship music, his current playlist is filled with K-pop—where he often finds his latest musical inspirations. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, caring for his plants, and being delightfully distracted by his Shiba Inu puppy, Kona.
Melanie Tan
Subi Kids Director
Melanie is from Singapore and has been in Perth since 2010 when she moved here for university. She met her husband Raymond in a Subi church small group and they have since had two beautiful children, Annalisa and Michael. Mel has been serving in Subi Kids since 2018. She believes in the importance of bringing children up in a godly manner. Having two young children herself, she sees the importance of a structured Sunday school program where children can grow in the knowledge of God and develop a relationship with Him. Mel also leads the AWANA program. With two young children keeping her on her toes, Mel runs on minimal sleep and strong coffee. She enjoys the endorphin kick from a gym workout, but is not a fan of running. In her free time, she enjoys baking and cooking.
Pam Finch
Finance Coordinator
Pam moved from Singapore to Perth in 2005 with her family and has been at Subi Church ever since. She and her husband Matt have two joyful & very energetic young children that keep them very busy! It is a great blessing for her to walk through the ups and downs of parenting with other mums at Subi as they seek to be an example of Christ’s love to their families. Pam enjoys supporting the many ministries at Subi that spread the good news of the Gospel to everyone who walks through the doors, and throughout the wider community. Her hope is that each person will see the goodness of God through the joy of being connected into the family of Christ. In her spare time, she often can be found at one of Perth’s many beautiful beaches or working on her newest painting (sometimes both at the same time!)

Sarah-Rose Cunnoosaumi
Subi Kids Assistant
Venetia Mathias
Intern
Venetia didn’t grow up in a Christian household, but she did learn the Lord’s Prayer from the King James Bible at school, and sang Psalm 23. She knew a little about Christmas and Easter, but Jesus was generally a distant figure who she believed wasn’t really part of her life. That changed in her early thirties when she had an unexpected and very personal encounter with Him. When she began reading the Bible, she came across John 15:16 and Isaiah 65:1a: “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me.” It felt like the Lord was speaking directly to her. Venetia started attending Subi Church just over two years ago after a friend encouraged her to come, and it felt like home from the moment she walked through the door. Although naturally quite shy, she wanted to get involved in evangelism because she believes there is an urgent need for people to hear the truth of the Gospel and discover the love and peace found in Jesus. She loves God’s Word and has been fortunate to begin a Graduate Diploma in Divinity at Trinity. It’s a privilege for Venetia to be part of this internship, and her prayer is that the Lord will continue to use her to reach those who are seeking Him and those who are lost.
