Osvaldo Almeida

Osvaldo was born in Brazil into a family of Portuguese Catholic migrants. He spent his early years involved in various activities of the local Catholic Church, but drifted progressively from the Catholic communion by the time he started his university studies. He completed his medical training in Brazil and his postgraduate training in the UK. It was in the UK that Osvaldo met his wife, Katie, and through her influence started attending the local Baptist church. The support and guidance he received at the time were critical to strengthening and consolidating his faith in the good news of Jesus.

Katie and Osvaldo moved to Australia in 1998 and brought up their three children in Perth. Over the past 25 years Osvaldo completed studies at Moore and Ridley Theological Colleges, and served evangelical churches and groups in various capacities. He loves hanging out with young adults, reading the Bible with them, and learning how the good news of Jesus makes all the difference for how we see the world and live our lives now. In addition to contributing to supporting our young adults and seeing them thrive at Subi, Osvaldo would like to help make the Nourish@Subi Bible study series an instructive and fun time of fellowship, and to support the professional and personal development of our staff.

Finally, and being mindful of the fact that most people in our society have not heard or do not understand the good news of Jesus, it will be important for the Subi community to consider how to honour Christ beyond the walls of Subi Church.
